Published on occasion of the exhibition; Reality Dimmed at Mead Gallery, Warwick Arts Centre, Coventry 8 January-10 March 2018. The catalogue presents illustrations of a new series of eight significant paintings Clare Woods’s has made for this exhibition. These powerful paintings, frequently vast in scale investigate the corporeality and fragility of the world we inhabit. Inspired by found photographic imagery Clare Woods collects and reinterpreted in oil paint using long curved brushstrokes and sensuous colour. Clare Woods has created paintings which contain an intrinsic tension between reality and abstraction. Professor Karen Lang; art historian and writer of modern and contemporary art has written a perceptive essay to accompany the printed works Illustrated in this catalogue that examines the shifting ground between a lived experience and painting. The exhibition will be on show until 10th March 2018
